APPLICATION SAFETY GUIDE

How to read a government job notification correctly

A notification is a rule document, not an advertisement. Read it in a fixed order so that an attractive post title or salary does not make you miss an age cut-off, subject condition, certificate rule or selection stage.

The official PDF and corrigenda are finalSummaries help you understand a notice, but they cannot replace the recruiting authority’s complete document and later changes.

Use this reading order

  1. Confirm the organisation, advertisement number, issue date and official website. Reject files received only through an unknown shortened link.
  2. Find the important-dates table: opening date, final registration date, fee deadline, correction window and expected examination stage.
  3. Check the vacancy table by post, category, state or zone. A headline total may include posts for which you are not eligible.
  4. Read age as on the specified cut-off date, then apply only the relaxation that matches your category and evidence.
  5. Read essential qualification word for word, including subject, marks, experience, registration and result-declaration date.
  6. Understand every selection stage, qualifying standard, physical/medical condition and document-verification requirement.
  7. Open the application only from the official notification or recruiting authority’s website.

After the first notification

Recruitment information can change. Authorities may issue corrigenda for vacancies, age, qualification, dates, centres or examination pattern. Monitor the same recruitment page—not only your email—for application status, rejection lists, city intimation, hall ticket, answer key, objection deadline, result, cut-off and document verification.

Red flags

  • A personal phone number asks for money to confirm selection or a hall ticket.
  • The website name is almost, but not exactly, the official domain.
  • A message creates urgency but provides no advertisement number or official PDF.
  • Payment is requested to an individual bank or UPI account.
  • The vacancy promises appointment without the selection stages stated by the authority.
